Mexico project

A “greenfield” system installed on two levels: all the facilities are housed on the lower level while the actual rolling mill is located on the upper level.

A MODERN ROLLING MILL

Upstream, the billets can be collected directly from the steelworks while still hot or from those stored in the warehouse.

They have a section of 160x160x16000 mm and with its 20 H/V rolling stands, the system can produce 3/8” straight corrugated bars with a 3 and 4 slitting system, up to a diameter of 80 mm. The maximum roll speed is 18 m/s on the channel with pointer, thanks to a plate discharge system that is the first of its kind in our industry. The annual production capacity is 700,000 tons.

This rolling mill has also been designed for special steels thanks to its extremely powerful driving force (motors in CA of 1000 kW) and a cooling bed of 92X14 m with tilting beams to guarantee even cooling. A 1000-ton hydraulic cold sheer is then able to cut up to a diameter of 80 mm.
